Happy New Year Friends!
Many of our patients request a plan to help achieve a more youthful and healthy look. Let’s start with our faces. Most of us are concerned about how to reverse the negative effects of age, stress and environmental factors.
Healthy skin is great looking skin! Our skin outer layer of cells recycles over a months’ time. The natural process of shedding off old cells slows as we age. The result is dull appearing skin. Exfoliation or assisted shedding of the top layer of “dead” skin cells will lead to healthier, more youthful skin. Several easy steps include gentle medical skin peels performed every 4-8 weeks.
For skin that requires more intensive therapy, lasers are your “go to” remedy. One of the newest advances in laser therapy is fractional laser resurfacing that effectively removes micro tunnels of unhealthy skin allowing healthy skin cells to regenerate with less downtime than with older laser technology.
For gentle fractional skin resurfacing there is the Clear + Brilliant laser. This can be performed every 3 months to maintain vibrant skin with no downtime.
For fine lines, mild acne scarring and sun damaged skin, Fraxel is an excellent treatment. This requires a series of 3-4 sessions. You may have a “sun burned” look with mild swelling for a few days but most patients can return to work quickly.
If you have significant wrinkles then fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is the best choice. Our latest fractional CO2 laser is the EXELO2 laser technology. More significant results do require 3-5 days of cosmetic downtime. Our highly trained medical team can review what treatment option is best for you.
What if your face has primarily superficial sun damage, spider veins, redness or rosacea? If this is the case, I highly recommend the gold standard – Intense Pulsed Light technology (IPL or Photofacial Rejuvenation). This involves a series of pulsed light passed over the skin that can lead to dramatic improvement in your skin’s appearance. It usually requires 3 or more “no downtime” sessions spaced 3 weeks apart.
Skin Care Routine Of course your daily medical skin care routine is very important such as Obagi or SkinMedica. A “must have” part of any medial skin care is frequent application of sun block. And during the winter months don’t forget a good hydration lotion and an anti-oxidant such as Vitamin C. Advances in growth factors and cellular regeneration have come a long way. Talk to our skin care experts about Obagi’s Regenica or Skin Medica’s TNS.
Body Image For those who have been frustrated with their body image there are treatment options that may be just right for you! A major area of concern for both men and women is the unsightly accumulation of fat around the waist and back. The most significant advance in cosmetic surgery over the last decade has been the introduction of SmartLipo laser liposuction. Performed under local anesthesia patients are pleased with minimal down time and improved results. (SEE MOMMY MAKEOVER VIDEO HERE)
Some women have too much excess abdominal skin or because of previous surgical scars have a distorted tummy appearance. Fortunately we can now offer a flat tummy with a new reclaimed waist line with a tummy tuck performed under local anesthesia. (SEE BIKINI TUMMY TUCK VIDEO HERE)
Get Started Early Early in the year is a great time to have these procedures in order to be beach ready for the summer. Breast augmentation is also in great demand anticipating bathing suit season. (SEE BREAST AUGMENTATION PHOTOS & TESTIMONIALS HERE)
